Place value to 100

Free practice for place value to 100. It loads instantly, there is nothing to sign up for, and it stops after eight questions.

What this skill is

Place value is the idea that where a digit sits determines what it is worth. Almost every multi-digit arithmetic error is a place-value error wearing a disguise.

Three ways to teach it at home

  1. Bundle real objects into tens and keep the bundles visible.
  2. Read numbers by their value, not their digits. 105 is "one hundred and five", never "one-zero-five".
  3. Watch for the classic bug: taking the smaller digit from the larger regardless of position.
